Market Fortune™ — Rulebook V7

Your Financial Arsenal

Market Fortune™ uses 180 unique cards across three decks, plus a Fortune Die. No board required.

60 Stocks ($): Your capital. Values from 1M to 5M across 12 industries.
60 Returns (+R): Your growth. +1M to +5M. Matched with Stocks to form investments.
60 Strategies (♚): Weapons, shields, and master moves. Four colors define their timing.
1 Fortune Die: Black with gold. 4 faces + (success), 2 faces − (fail). 66% favorable.

Construction Cards: Stock ($) and Return (+R) together are called Construction Cards. These build investments. Strategy (♚) cards are separate.

Setup

Deal: Each player receives 4 Stocks ($) + 4 Returns (+R) = 8 cards total.
Place Decks: 3 decks face down in center. Discard pile space beside each (face up).
First Player: Everyone rolls the die. Most − starts. Clockwise.

⚠️ Critical Discard Rule: You MAY draw from $ and +R discard piles. You may NEVER draw from the ♚ discard pile.

Victory Condition: 25M or more

Reach 25M or more with exactly 4 Investments — First player to achieve this wins.

The 8 Construction Cards Rule: Always maintain exactly 8 Construction Cards ($) + (+R) between your hand and placed investments. ♚ do NOT count.

Your Turn: One Action

Each turn you perform exactly ONE of these three actions:

💰 Build (Draw Capital): Draw 1 from $ or +R deck, or top of Construction discard. Then discard 1 $ or +R.

🎲 Risk (Form Investment): 1 $ + 1 +R same logo. Keep hidden. Roll die. + = Face down + draw ♚. − = Failed, return cards.

♚ Dominate (Draw Strategy): Draw 1 ♚ from deck. Do NOT discard. Red: use or keep. Other colors: keep, end turn.

⚡ Momentum Rule: When you form a successful investment (die shows +), immediately draw 1 ♚ and you may play a red instant card immediately.

Using Strategy Cards

To play a Strategy card, your action must be Dominate. After drawing, you may play 1 red instant card. Limit: 1 Strategy played per turn. Blue defenses don't count toward this limit.

How an Investment Forms

Same industry logo + successful die roll = Investment placed face down. Draw 1 ♚.

Investment Requirements: 1 Stock ($) + 1 Return (+R) with the same industry logo. Only from cards in your hand.

Portfolio Optimization

Upgrade investments without using your turn. How: Swap 1 card from a formed investment with 1 from your hand (same type: $↔$, +R↔+R). Removed card → hand. Discard 1 construction card. When: Anytime. Not while attacked. Cost: 1 construction card.

Strategies: The Four Colors

🔴 Red — Instant (Your Turn): On YOUR turn. Use now or keep. Apply effect → Discard. Cards: Theft, Market Crash, Correction, Fortune, Compound Interest, Buy More, Shrewd Move, Federal Audit, Negotiation, Regulatory Block, Liquidity, Inflation, Rescue, Lucky Investor, Systemic Risk.

🔵 Blue — Reactive (When Attacked): OUTSIDE your turn, when attacked. Opponent attacks → Defense → Both discard. Cards: Risk Control, Stable Coin, Diamond Hands, Experience, Wrong Analyst, Contingency Plan.

🟢 Green — Modifier (Investment/End): Forming investment or game end. Apply when criteria met. ONE per investment. Cards: Innovation, Maximum Return, Downside Investment.

🟡 Yellow — Permanent (Game End): Revealed at END when declaring victory. Surprise bonuses if criteria met. Cards: Booming Industry, Diversification King, Dividends.

Combat System

When attacked with a red card, defend IMMEDIATELY with a blue card. Both cards go to discard. No defense = attack hits. Group attacks: Defenses resolve clockwise from attacker.

Victory — Market Close

Form your 4th investment and reach 25M+. Declare victory. Flip all investments face up. Each investment value = Stock + Return value. Add all 4 totals.

Example: Inv 1: 5M+3M=8M · Inv 2: 4M+4M=8M · Inv 3: 3M+2M=5M · Inv 4: 2M+2M=4M · TOTAL: 25M = VICTORY!

⚠️ If you don't reach 25M: Return one investment to your hand and continue.

Market Terms

Leader: Most formed investments.
Going Last: Fewest investments. All tied = no one is "last".
Equal or More Advanced: Same or more investments than you.
Construction Cards: Only $ and +R. NOT ♚.

Game Modes

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Mode (15-30 min): First to form 4 investments wins (no counting values). Perfect for learning.

🏆 Fortune Mode (20-45 min, 2-6 Players, Age 14+): 25M+ with 4 investments. The definitive Market Fortune™ experience.

🎯 Championship Mode: Multiple games. Add winning totals. First to 100M wins.

Quick Reference

Turn: 1 action: Build, Risk, or Dominate. Clockwise.
Die: 4 faces + (66%), 2 faces − (34%). Fortune card bypasses die.
Combat: Red attacks your turn. Blue defends outside turn.
Victory: 25M+ with 4 investments.

FAQ

Can I see opponents' investments? No. Face down until victory declared.

Market Crash — everyone loses? Players without defense lose all investments. No replacements.

4th investment but under 25M? Return one investment to hand and continue.

Multiple green modifiers on one investment? No. ONE per investment.

Draw from Strategy discard? Never. Only Stock and Return discards.

Two players reach 25M same turn? Only the active player can declare victory.
