How to play Market Fortune | Tutorial and rulebook
How to play

The rules in 5 minutes. Mastery, in 50 games.

You do not need to know finance. A game runs 20 to 60 minutes, and by the third one you catch yourself negotiating like a shark. Game fifty still teaches you something.

The objective

You win when you close four investments and reach 25 million.

Nobody sees what yours are worth until someone declares victory. That is why the game does not reward whoever piles up fastest, but whoever reads the moment best: when to enter, when to protect, and when to close before the person next to you.

An investment is formed with one Stock and one Return from the same industry. The Fortune Die decides whether it lands: four faces in your favor, two against.

Your turn

Three plays. You pick one.

The whole game fits here. Everything else is when, and against whom.

01 · Build

You set up the hand.

Take one card from the deck or the top of the discard pile, and drop one. Nothing spectacular happens, which is why almost nobody values it: this is the turn that decides the next three.

The law of the marketYou always hold 8 building cards between hand and investments. Strategy cards do not count toward that limit.

02 · Risk

You form the investment.

Pair a Stock and a Return from the same industry and roll the die. If it lands in your favor, the investment goes face down and you take a Strategy card at no cost. If it goes against you, the cards return to your hand.

And if you regret itYou can optimize an investment without spending your turn: swap one card for another of the same type and discard one. Never while under attack.

03 · Dominate

You move the table.

Play a Strategy card: attack, protect yourself, or change the rules of the moment. You can only attack someone level with you or ahead of you. Nobody hits the player who is behind.

Immediate defenseWhen a red card hits you, answer with a blue one on the spot. With no defense, the blow lands.

RedAttacks. Played on your turn, or held for the exact moment.
BlueDefends. The only one played outside your turn.
GreenImproves an investment. One per investment, no more.
YellowPermanent bonus. Revealed at the end, when you declare victory.

Physical and digital layer

The same game, at your table or from afar.

The physical box is for your in-person evening. The online table plays the same game with friends remotely, by room code, and leaves you a reading of your decision style. Two ways to live the same game.

Make a play the table will not forget.

Deal and go. No board.

You do not need to know finance. The table teaches you while you play, and by the time you understand what you are doing it is too late: you are already in.

Highly replayable. No two nights deal the same hand.

You sit down with millions and the table starts to move.

You go for the best return on the table. You roll the die on an Innovation and land an investment nobody saw you building. Then a Market Crash hits and everyone caught open loses what they built. Your Contingency Plan, the only copy in the deck, leaves you standing.

You read your rivals. The leader takes a Federal Audit and you pull the card he was saving out of his arsenal. One move short of winning, he watches you drop a Regulatory Block. For a full round, nobody else closes.

Risk Control doesn't stop that one. In the end, the table makes clear who read the game first.

Alliances, negotiation and masterstrokes. Sometimes you win with the best card; sometimes by reading the person next to you and getting ahead of their trap.
